A Different Kind of Instructor
Hello there, I'm Jessa Brooke, owner of
Honey Rose Movement Studio,
and I welcome you to this sacred space with delight.
I've taught yoga since 2015, belly dance fitness since 2020, and somatic movement and Pilates since 2022,
after a ten-year massage therapy career and more than 25 years in Anusara yoga practice.
My path led me to an incredible opportunity at a pelvic floor physical therapy clinic,
as a wellness coach leading belly dance fitness and yoga classes within the clinic,
and working closely with the amazing owner as her Patient Care Coordinator.
There I was able to absorb first class knowledge about balancing the pelvic floor.
I opened Honey Rose Mvmt Studio (formerly Embodhi Feminine Wellness) in 2022 to support women seeking
enhanced pelvic health, strength and balance, peace of mind and feminine embodiment.
I also live with the chronic widespread pain conditions of Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos, Fibromyalgia,
and all of the "friends" both conditions bring along, like
IBS-C , POTS, ADHD, migraines, chronic fatigue, prolific bruising and joint subluxations.
While I've curated the best possible primary care team, conventional medicine leaves a lot to be desired.
My pcp's are interested and open to learning, and they give me what I need,
while admitting that they are following my lead.
They really do their best with the tools they have. But the toolkit is small, with many mismatched tools.
Fewer specialists have been helpful.
Since knowledge about, and truly informed care for, these conditions is wholly absent,
I knew I had to become my own specialist.
Not only to have the will to live in my own body...
but to have the best, most helpful tools to offer others, the kind of informed, compassionate care that is so desperately needed.
My journey began with a specialization in women's pelvic floor health~
(another deep unmet need in the h-EDS community)...
evolving to include hypermobility and Fibromyalgia is the natural progression of my lived expertise,
and the heart of what I offer at Hunny Rose.

Honey Movement as Medicine
The first thing physicians tell us about managing our chronic pain conditions is to EXERCISE.
And you're left wondering, but what, and how?! Is this a cruel joke? It hurts and causes flares!
Trust me, sister~ I get it wholly and completely.
I understand how the never-ending pain we experience makes it feel impossible to motivate movement.
But movement can be the medicine instead of the enemy, if we listen differently.
It IS true~ the more we sit still and "rest",
the stiffer and less mobile our bodies become, and the more pain takes root.
But our bodies respond to movement, turning stickiness to softness, stagnation into flow.
Spiraling, undulating, wavelike motions, guided by breath and presence
can begin to unwind the pain and unglue the adhesions.
We already know we can’t rewrite the blueprint of our collagen—
but we can offer our body the support it needs to live with more ease, more pleasure, and more joy.
I've spent innumerable hours weaving together science and lived experience,
adapting my practice to my pain, honoring my body and its ever-changing needs,
and honing my skills to gently guide others to do the same.
Gentle movement has been my medicine~
turning pain into power, strengthening my muscles and protecting my joints, deepening my spatial awareness, soothing my nervous system and hyperactive mind, and connecting me with the intelligence of my body and the rhythm of my relief.
I call it "honey movement".
Fascia- The Missing Link
Honey movement connects the slow, sensual, intentional movements of our sessions,
the sweetness of the relief we feel from those movements,
and the honey-like viscosity of our FASCIA,
which is our foundational, predominant connective tissue that has deep effects on *everyone's* body,
but is especially compromised in the hypermobile body due to our collagen defects.
It is a ROOT cause of much of our pain and many of our comorbidities.
Fascia is the missing link in most education, exercise programs, and treatments.
Without honoring it, we risk pain flares, injuries, and nervous system overwhelm.
Fascia is sacred armor~ resilient like Kevlar, unaffected by pressure from the outside
and with millions more nerve endings than anywhere else in the body
that respond to tightness, immobility, stress and stagnation with pain.
That's why massage and foam rolling may offer momentary relief,
but they don’t rewrite the story and can damage us even more.
Fascia can't be strengthened, but it can be trained...
to truly shift fascia, we must move from within.
Through spiral motions, sensual sway, somatic rhythm, and stoking internal heat, we invite healing.
This is how pain becomes power. This is honey movement.

The archaic principle of "No pain no gain" is horrifically out-of-date for women,
especially for those of us *already* navigating chronic pain.
Current scientific research, practical experience and innate wisdom
collectively suggest that overly strenuous exercise negatively affects
women's bodies, brains and hormones, and that
low-impact, moderate-intensity, fluid movements yield the most beneficial outcomes
for women's hormone health, pain & anxiety relief,
body sculpting, graceful aging and enjoyment of life.
