Moon Cycle Fitness

At Embodhi Feminine Wellness,

we align the intensity of our workouts with the cycles of the moon!

Synchronizing our workouts in this way

allows us to best utilize the ebb and flow of energy

the moon produces on the planet, and within *us*,

connecting us more deeply with our sacred feminine energy.

Many of us are all too familiar with the cycle of setting fitness goals,

such as jogging or gyming 3 days per week,

and then becoming frustrated and discouraged when

our energy is too low to maintain our routine,

then giving up or burning out and feeling like a failure.

The thing is, this isn't a failure

of our bodies, commitment or motivation.

It's a natural, organic cycle that transforms from enemy to friend once we learn to

glow with the flow!

WARM UP:  New Moon- Waxing Crescent (days 1-6)

Our energy, strength and resilience are on the lower side.

Time for a clean slate, gathering our thoughts, planning our goals and planting their seeds. It's a time to release what no longer serves us to make room for the new! Our routines and sequences during this time honor, nourish and support this phase of energy. This doesn't mean we don't get a fantastic workout in! It simply means that our workouts are more of a slow burn and very *intentional*. Lots of stretching as well to make sure our bodies are limber and ready for the upcoming high-intensity Full Moon energy!

I align this phase of the moon with the feminine archetype, the Creatrix, planning and plotting her next creation.

WORK OUT:  Waxing Gibbous to Full Moon (days 7-13)

We feel the momentum building!

We are active and outgoing, energy is high and peaks with the Full Moon. We fertilize the seeds we planted with inspired action, giving them nourishment to thrive and flourish! We honor this phase and take advantage of the raw and powerful vibes we're feeling with higher-intensity cardio and strength training routines!

This phase brings to my mind the archetype of the Wild Woman, dancing free, untamed and unafraid!

COOL DOWN: Waning Gibbous- Waning Crescent (days 14-21)

We begin to wind down after our burst of energy during the previous phase. Time to turn inward, think about our goals, be grateful, trust, and let go of binding habits that harm us. During this phase, we slow it back down again with flowing movements and routines designed to help us release control and negative energy, and cultivate gratitude. Fantastic and effective workouts of a flowing nature that enhance inner connection, stamina, flexibility, balance, digestion, posture and mental focus.

I think of this phase as the feminine archetype of the Priestess, wise in her knowing and certain that Divinity has heard her petitions and will reward her inspired, proactive actions.

And finally, we REST: Last Quarter (days 22-28)

Our energy is withdrawing to prepare for the upcoming new cycle. We've done our work, planted the seeds, helped them to grow, and released them to the Universe with trust that they will be fulfilled. We surrender, recuperate and rest with low-flow routines and sequences that will support our bodies in recovery.

I think of this phase as the feminine archetype of the Sage, all knowing and perhaps a bit tired so we honor her with slower flowing movement. Don't be fooled though~ slow flow is not easier; in fact, in can be quite intense as we are more aware of our muscle coordination.
